if only i could describe to you in words

I finally watched We Jam Econo. Like most things I hold very dear to me (Bukowski and skateboarding being a couple besides punk) I have a hard time embracing people making movies or writing books on my favorite subjects. It usually takes me a long time to watch or read these things, if I do at all.
I grew up on bands like the Minutemen, Born Against and Black Flag so watching this documentary for me hit pretty close to home as these are still the bands I listen to on a daily basis and they still represent to me what punk is.
Listening to Mike Watt talking about getting asked "What do you think about pop punk? and how there's no real punk [nowadays]..." His answer? "Things happen. I don't really fault people. Everybody can't be born at the same time. Some people are born before, some people are born during and some people are born after.. and a lot of that's just circumstance. So what's really, the question is, what is to be done where you're at and how you gonna do it?"
Well, it's hard to explain what this means to me.. it just really means a lot.
(this will lead me to my next post, look out for that one)
Anyway, you should really check this dvd out, even if you have no idea who the Minutemen are. It's about a group of guys with probably the most heart you could ever have.

we all need someone we can bleed on

Here's Chan Marshall at the Chanel Cruise collection this past weekend. I've always loved all white ensembles. If you haven't noticed, she really has become quite the style icon these past few years. She's also a huge Dylan fan (as am I). Perhaps Irina should call her and have her sing "Girl of the North Country" with Pete? That would be such a better idea than Sean Lennon. Also, have you heard her cover of the Nerves "Hanging on the Telephone" (later done by Blondie)? It's a great song, unfortunately it was only made for a mobile commercial and she didn't record it in it's entirety. Total bummer!

WWD reports on Isabella Blow's send off

GRAND SEND-OFF: Isabella Blow's funeral Tuesday in Gloucestershire, England, was as over the top as her style and friends said she would have loved it. The likes of Sophie Dahl, Lucy Ferry and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson paraded in grand style, a mob of paparazzi waited outside and the coffin was topped by one of Blow's favorite hats — a three-masted schooner created by Philip Treacy. Longtime Blow friend and protégé Treacy also created the dressing for the coffin, a black velvet cloth covered with flowers, leaves and a carpet of lilies, and built a bust of Blow for inside the church that had another of her favorite hats on it. Others among the 250 attending included Alexander McQueen, Jasper Conran, Anthony Price, André Leon Talley, Hamish Bowles and Rupert Everett. Blow died May 10 at age 48. She had tried to end her life several times, and a preliminary inquest found she died after swallowing weed killer. A memorial service for Blow is expected to be held in July and a full inquest will be held in October.

Ever wonder if anyone anywhere ever received a pair of those gold metal & cashmere balenciaga $100,000 leggings? Well thanks to ms. Kathy Grayson, here is a photo of epic artist Terrence Koh in a pair of the leggings as he was roaming the streets of NY for a sort of impromptu performance.

I spied this woman on Style Bubble and Dans Paris and I must say, it really is quite an amazing dress! From what I've read, it's YSL but no one knew from which collection. I would love to find out..
(Oh, and, naturally, think of how great it would look paired with my Westwood boots!)
